Feng Shui Bedroom Colors

Feng Shui Bedroom Colors

Generally, bedroom colors should be muted. The colors in the bedroom should be chosen to make it truly a restful place. Bright colors have the tendency to make the bedroom appear less relaxing than it should be. However, the practice of Feng shui will always have people in mind. It is this basic principle that makes it very attractive to its adherents. This principle could be extended even to the selection of bedroom colors.

Conventional bedrooms, design and application will take into heavy account those that cater to modern approaches, motifs and trends. Not so with Feng shui designs, what is basically considered here is the occupant. So before choosing a paint to color the walls of the bedroom, Feng shui bedroom coloring will tend to consider the temperament of the occupant.

For some, bedrooms are mostly places to rest and sleep. If this were the case soft color that is conducive to rest like blues, soft greens and pastel colors could be chosen. Others though work better in the bedroom than any other place in the house. For this other colors apply. For some, like the younger members of the household, a more cheery and vibrant color will be better suited. Whatever the choice maybe, it should always be considered that the choice of bedroom colors will still be conducive to rest as some colors for some people makes them restless, depriving them of sleep which a bedroom is primarily designed for. Feng shui bedroom colors should do the job of providing the activity that one desires in the bedroom while not compromising them the relaxation that is needed.

There are also colors that tend to spark creativity. If the chosen colors for the walls are neutral colors and those that tend to invite rest but the occupant wants it also to be a workplace, sometimes the colors chosen for the bedspreads are those that will spark creativity. According to Feng shui, the colors yellow and orange while vibrant colors, also encourages activity and better focus. Beneath that should be a bed sheet that has a softer hue to encourage rest when the activities are done. When the activity in the bedroom is done not in the bed, the corners where one chooses to work most should adopt more vibrant colors.

Colors make statements. It could signify love, peace, tranquility, boldness, creativity etc. Due to this, colors have to be adapted to the mood of the bedroom that the occupant wants to evoke. Feng shui also uses colors to decrease, augment or redirect the chi of the person. Some would want to increase a person's yang by adopting a different set of colors while others want improvements on their yin. The rule of the thumb when these principles are being applied is to create a balance in the person making him neither too yin nor too yang.

Decorative touches and accessories are also placed with the end view of creating harmony in a person.

There are also eight different life directions in the individual. To enhance this and benefit the occupant in the bedroom, different colors that could be represented by an artwork could be placed in all the compass direction. This however involves a deeper study and colors could be specific to the life goals that the person occupying the bedroom desires.

Feng Shui and Why Has the Practice Persisted

Feng Shui and Why has the Practice Persisted

A belief, a system or a dogma that has existed, survived and is still in popular use is worth taking a second look. To dismiss them would simply be idiotic as many already did and have proven nothing aside from making a belief that they do not cotton into only to be advertised the more and inadvertently help its propagation.

There will always be the skeptics and believe me, they have had their share of helping issues to be advertised freely and more forcefully since once they have committed their emotions into fighting against one; it happens that they become even more vocal than the adherents. It is true with religions, ideologies, new inventions and discoveries and yes, even Feng shui.

And so again, what is Feng shui and for centuries now, why has it survived?

In a nutshell, Feng shui is the result of the persistence of man in trying to live with his environment through harmonizing with it so that he gathers the positive forces and influences of nature to improve his wellness. Not a bad idea at all. In fact it almost sound like most of the precepts in all the major religions except that it is not a religion. It is a practice. A belief system developed since the ancient times in China. Feng shui has persisted and spread, to almost all the known parts of the world. Unbeknownst to many cultures, many Feng shui principles are already being practiced by them although with different connotations and justifications.

The practice of Feng shui has taken a prominent consideration in building designs, selecting sites, locations, decorations, business, personal practices, interrelationships, houses, rooms, pathways, medicine, name it. Feng shui could be applied to almost everything and yes even the contour of a face and the force of character and vision in a person is said to be contributors to gaining good qi (pronounced as chi, a kind of energy from which life emanates) or not. Almost everything could be drawn to gain good Feng shui or bad Feng shui. It could have thousands of applications – from womb to tomb.

It is not exactly known when and where Feng shui started. There are very few written accounts of Feng shui prior to the last century. The practice then was to hand over the knowledge by word of mouth, from master to the student.

Even with that, the practice of Feng shui continued and improved. One thing that it owes to is that Feng shui is intuitive in nature and is practical. While it has often been dismissed as superstition, a bull and a crap, by those who are against it, its longevity could be traced to the benefits of all those who applied its principles. This proves as always, that the best argument is never good enough when it is aimed against success.

Feng shui holds so much validity for the Orientals that there were Chinese emperors who had their Feng shui experts executed for fear that the knowledge could be used against them. In the 19th century, the Chinese government has control over the distribution of charts, numerical data and diagrams that were included in the almanacs that it releases to the public.

Feng shui is an old practice that has developed through the centuries. In fact it is a part of the Chinese philosophy. The earliest formal account though is through the writings of Chu Hsi who lived during the Song Dynasty around 1126 to 1278. His writings then became the foundation of the practice of Feng shui. But as already mentioned, Feng shui foes a long way back.

Designing a Feng Shui Classroom

Designing a Feng Shui Classroom

In Feng shui, all areas have their energy fields. The best indicator to harmonize with these fields is the bagua map. What does the bagua tells you according to the different zones in a space. The indicators must be followed so that you are in harmony with the environment and the forces around you.

The bagua map as applied to a classroom brings similar results. Here's how.

Pay close attention to the way the furniture, desks, board, tables, and chairs are arranged. The arrangements should coincide with what the bagua map indicates. Know that there are five basic elements in Feng shui, the fire, water, earth, metal and wood. Once you know what the bagua map indicates, the things that you bring to the classroom and how you arrange them should be in harmony with these elements.

Arranging the classroom according to what the quadrants in the octagon in the bagua indicates will improve the results that you want to achieve in it.

There are occasions though that you cannot arrive at an open position in the classroom that is in accordance with your bagua map. This may be due to the limitation of space, the basic design and structure and the positioning of the classroom. If this is the case, you can still arrange the classroom in the conventional style that has rows of desks arranged one in front of the other and in a lined way. This is still okay provided you place objects and decorations that coincide with what the bagua map require, but keep this kind of arrangement as a second option. The best way will always have the classroom arranged in line with the zones that the bagua map indicates.

The Feng shui compass should also be employed, as this will indicate the most favorable position according to the eight compass directions. The information that could be derived here will enable you to find out the best orientation of the classroom and its furnishings.

Other important things that should highly be considered is that the teacher must always have a line of vision that will enable him to look at all directions and a position where the back is not turned to the door.

The teacher is the most influential person in the classroom. Even with the limitation of design, the desk that he is working on should be according to the bagua map.

As with any space, sharp corners and protrusions in the wall disturbs the flow of chi. avoid a position whereby students will be in direct line with it.

Do something about open beams if there are any. The chi flows in a way that whoever would be positioned directly below the beam will suffer the extra pressure that is generated in those beams.

Students, especially the younger ones are good agents of clutter. One of the best things that the teacher has to do is to train the kids to avoid cluttering and dirtying the classroom. A Clutter free classroom is not only good Feng shui it is also an assurance that you are putting them out of harms way.

Classrooms are often students second home. It is only fitting for them to have a classroom that follows the principles of Feng shui.
